The Orkneys between Light and Darkness

The World according to Dina

It was raining and breezy. Excited we embarked the wavering ferry to the Orkneys. We knew that these islands are situated that far north as South Greenland. And then this Norse sounds of place names like Scapa Flow and Skara Brae. The sea was grey only occasionally lit-up by a beam of light that made the water shimmering.

Alles mutet nordisch an. Grau war die bewegte See, bisweilen nur von einem Lichtstrahl beleuchtet, der sie silbern erglänzen ließ.

Orkneys’ colour is grey, the middle between light and darkness. As a colour of the achromatic centre it’s soothing. Here you find peace as Amy Sackville describes…

White Horse

Horse WHITE
Perhaps the title of a book to be written…
White horses stand for the balance of wisdom and power. White horses have a special significance in the mythologies of cultures around the world. They are often associated with the sun chariot, with warrior-heroes, with fertility (in both mare and stallion manifestations), or with an end-of-time saviour, but other interpretations exist as well. Dreaming of a horse suggests that you need something important in your life, a goal to move towards. … A white horse means you have some type of awareness that is spiritual in nature, and that you have a down-to-earth style. A black horse shows you have energy that needs to move into your life in a positive manner.
In some cultures, white horses stand for the balance of wisdom and power. “In others, like Christianity, the white horse is a symbol of death” (not sure about that- see Revelation 19 ?? – must do some more research).
In short, the horse is a universal symbol of freedom without restraint, because riding a horse made people feel they could free themselves from their own bindings.
“A fitting tribute to a tumultuous yet triumphant story, encouraging all of us to think twice about what we are capable of accomplishing, regardless of our personal barriers.”

Creative Photography

Live Your Truth

On a sunny Sunday day trip recently with some friends, we came across a beautiful orchard in the Perth hills. With excitement, we pulled over and grabbed our camera’s for the perfect photo opportunity.

I love to use my camera in creative ways, capturing colour, nature and anything that appeals to my eye. Self expression with a lens is fun, enabling all your attention and a great way to make a lasting memory. I also love bees, and love to get them mid nectar nibble.

I hope you feel inspired by these images for your own creative ideas. Please feel free to use the images to paint something, or be creative in other ways. Be sure to show me your end result.

Being creative is so important to me. I make sure I make time for it every week. Turn that TV off and take some time out for yourself!

Myra Canyon | British Columbia

Phoenix's Life

Hello friends,

Todays post will be about our little walk in Myra Canyon! We decided to go check out this trail while we were in Kelowna. It is 12km one way, so 24km round trip. Most people bike this because walking it will take a very long time! If you do only want to do it one way, there are parking lots at both sides so you can park one vehicle where you start and another where you end! We only walked the first few kilometers though because we had other things planned that we wanted to do.

If you are just visiting and have no bikes with you, yet you want to bike this trail, they do have bike rentals available! They also have guided tours you can do, which I think would be such a good idea since there is so much history behind these tracks. Though…
